Findings

I'm writing down some of my case situations here so that you can perhaps take something from them for yourself... A new case every week.

Part 1:

Practical case with frequent vomiting and request for nutritional advice because allergy was suspected. But behind it was…:

A bitch (Maltipoo) was recently brought to my practice who was vomiting more than twice a week. The owner suspected that she was having a food intolerance and asked me to create a diet plan for her. The owner had already contacted her veterinarian, but in the end she didn't really get anywhere. What was the reason, or where did the bitch's problem begin?

After I had drawn up the feeding plan, I visited the owner's home to get to know the dog.

My observation:

During the visit, it turned out that there was another dog in the house who did not belong directly to the owners, but was able to come and go as she pleased. The owners' dog was not at all happy with the other dog and tried to discipline her, but this did not work.

The other dog was then asked to leave the apartment and the owner's dog immediately relaxed.

I asked how long the other dog had been living in the house and then discovered that the Maltipu dog's intolerance began shortly thereafter.

I was also told that both dogs were fed from one plate and should also lie in one bed, which the older dog did not like at all.

My conclusion:

Separate both ladies, namely the feeding and sleeping places, and do not leave them together unattended.

The dog did not vomit again after that.

This case has shown me once again that it is not always obvious for the owner to identify the cause. If you take the dog to a veterinary practitioner and do not report this observation, the vet cannot really take all factors into account in their treatment because they were not there.

My wish for you is to observe your animals as closely as you can and take notes. Often what is happening doesn't seem that important to you, but in the end it is fundamental.

Yours Jeanette

Part 2:

A customer asked whether it is possible to teach 11-year-old dogs a different behavior...

It came this way:

Part 3:

A medium-sized poodle I already knew from my practice had an unusual swelling that only became visible after shearing at the dog groomer...

This is how he was introduced to me:
